Bridge should work the way you do
Bridge exists for people the web gets in the way of, so it has to be easy to use itself. This page says what we aim for, what you can change, and what we know isn't good enough yet.

What we aim for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA across the website, and to go further where it helps people most.
That goal hasn’t been confirmed by an independent audit yet. We check changes ourselves with a keyboard only, the settings below, a phone-sized screen, automated tests and reviews focused on accessibility. When something falls short, we say so here.
What you can change
Open Comfort at the top of any page to change these. They’re saved on this device, and in your account if you’re signed in:
- Text size: standard, large or extra large.
- Letters: Atkinson Hyperlegible, Lexend or your device’s own font.
- Spacing: more room between letters, words and lines.
- Colours: light, dark or your device’s setting.
- Calm mode: no animation, softer colours and no decoration.
Courses also have a reading ruler, a focus mode that hides everything else, and read-aloud on every lesson where your browser can read aloud. Simplify makes any other page calm and plain.
How it’s built
- We build everything to work with a keyboard only, with a visible focus outline. A “Skip to content” link comes first on every page. Tell us if something doesn’t work this way.
- Pages use real headings, landmarks and labels, so screen readers can move around and say what each control does.
- Text meets AA contrast in light and dark colours. Form fields have an edge you can see.
- We follow your device’s reduced-motion setting, and nothing flashes more than once a second.
- Pages are checked on a small phone screen (375 pixels wide) and with extra-large text, without scrolling sideways.
- We never ask for a diagnosis, and we describe barriers, not people.
What still falls short
These are the gaps we know about. We’re working on them.
- Courses from creators are written by the people who publish them. We check their structure, but images they upload may not have good descriptions yet.
- Sign Bridge is in beta, and Voice Pilot is still being built. The browser extension works in Google Chrome on a computer only.
- Answers from the guide are written by AI. They can be wrong, and they aren’t checked by a person before you see them.
- Languages: the website is in English, French and Arabic. When the AI guide is available it answers in your language, but the backup guide used without AI, and the browser extension, are only in English for now.
- Courses in French and Arabic: on French and Arabic pages, the courses themselves are in English for now.
- Page check reads a page’s HTML only, so it can’t judge colour contrast or content added by scripts.
- Screen readers: we haven’t yet tested every page with each major screen reader (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack). Tell us if something doesn’t read well.
Tell us when something gets in the way
If any part of Bridge is hard for you to use, we want to know. Use the contact form and choose “Something is hard to use”. Say what you were trying to do and what got in the way. You don’t need to explain why, or use any technical words. A person reads every message.
If the form itself doesn’t work for you, open an issue on GitHub.
